Make mindful present choices this festive season

A sustainability group president is urging Victorians to think twice before buying present this Christmas.

Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group president David Gormley-O’Brien said it’s easy for consumers to take deliberate steps to present buying that can cut down on waste.

“Think about the afterlife of the gift,” he said.

“Preferably give something that’s beautiful but useful. Avoid plastic if at all possible and go for quality things that can be used for a long time.

Mr Gormley-O’Brien said it’s also worth opting for a small number of durable items, rather than giving a mass of presents that will quickly devalue.
