These budding designers have a flair for fashion and a way with needle and thread.
MacKillop College year 12 students Briana Musarra and Cassie Hockley wowed judges with their stunning creations at the recent Fashion Awards Australia.
Briana won first prize in cocktail wear for her palazzo pants with sheer panels and assymetrical top with matching choker.
Briana, who hopes to study fashion design at RMIT next year, said her creation was inspired by former Christian Dior fashion designer Raf Simons.
“I was crying … it was really good [to win],” she said.
Cassie also turned heads with her creation in the up-cycled wear category – a denim dress made from cut-outs from old jeans.
She said she was surprised and thrilled to place second.
“It was amazing to see my work up there,” she said.
The pair both study product design technology at MacKillop and have taken part in the Fashion Awards in previous years.
MacKillop teacher Jennifer Morrison said she loved seeing students’ hard work pay off.
“I’m very proud of them,” she said.
