The state government has announced the location of the future Point Cook South Senior Secondary School.
The Minister for Education James Merlino and Altona MP Jill Hennessy announced this afternoon that land at 120-122 Homestead Road, Point Cook has been acquired to build the college on.
The 2018-19 state budget included $53 million in funding for the construction of the school, which is set to open in January 2020.
The school will cater for 1100 students once completed and will include a three-storey school building, performing arts and physical education facility and sports oval.
Mr Merlino said the school would provide the community with “first-rate education facilities”.
“We’re getting on with the job of delivering an exciting new secondary school to ensure families can access a great local school as the population in Wyndham continues to grow,” he said.
Ms Hennessy said the Point Cook South Senior Secondary School would “… offer a wide breadth of curriculum that will give students the opportunities to excel at what they do best.”
