A lucky group of Wyndham locals got a sneak peek of Morocco’s final preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup yesterday.

Wyndham mayor Susan McIntyre, deputy mayor Jennie Barrera, players from host club Werribee City’s women’s team and other community members were allowed to attend a special training session at Morocco’s Galvin Park training base on Wednesday.

Members of the Atlas Lions signed autographs and mingled with locals, while a small group of fans brandishing the Moroccan flag and clad in the team’s red and green colours were on hand to provide their compatriots with extra support.

While the tournament kicks off tonight with co-hosts Australia playing Ireland in Sydney, Morocco have to wait until Monday to begin their campaign when they take on Group H rivals Germany in Melbourne.

The team then travel to Adelaide for their second match against South Korea on July 30, before their final group stage fixture with Colombia in Perth on August 3.
