One of Wyndham’s top names in fashion has fashioned himself another accomplishment.
The Hoppers Crossing men’s suits designer has been nominated for the Konica Minolta Career Achievement Award, one the 2026 categories in the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards.
Pond, whose initial career break came from the 2023 Fashion Awards Australia when he won the race wear and day wear categories as a year 12 student, said it was an honour to be nominated.
“I had no idea that these awards were a thing, and just to be nominated and have the chance to showcase what I am doing– I am really grateful,” he said.
“It is just to highlight my career and where I am going as well as the leadership I have shown so far.
“It is to inspire others to really get out there and get recognition out of whatever they choose to do, as well as get my brand a bit more traction.
“I have always strived to show other young people there are ways to be recognised for their efforts.”
This is something he wants to achieve in his own backyard more than anything.
“When I jumped on the phone call for the award, there weren’t many people from the western suburbs.
“It was good to represent people and children from the west who are out there and doing their best.”
The 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards Gala Presentation Dinner will be held on Friday 1 May at Pullman Melbourne on the Park.
