A Wyndham sporting group has recently been announced the winner of the Tarneit West Village ‘The Real MVP’ competition.

Werribee Bears Rugby Sports Club took home $2000 to celebrate the contribution of the Most Valuable Player who brings positive change to their sports club.

The recipient, TeReweti Tawa, was nominated by the club’s secretary Tiahnee, who said the club would not have come so far without Mr Tawa’s contributions.

“TeReweti, in addition to coaching, works tirelessly around the clock to set up fields and pack down on home games,” they said.

“He is also the general handyman and fixes everything.”

As part of the competition, the community was invited to nominate a favourite player and divulge in 25 words or less why

their nominee deserved the award.

Tarneit West Village Centre Manager, Mark Ensor said local sports clubs had shown “great resilience that epitomises community spirit in these unprecedented times”.

“The Real MVP is a gift that Tarneit West Village can give back to a local sports club who has supported the wellbeing of our local community,” he said.
