Little donation goes a long way

Mark Penaluna says the Werribee Football Club’s decision to donate $5000 to the Werribee Hospital Foundation is just a little way to say thank you.

As the club’s chief executive, Penaluna lists giving back to the community as a key value for the group.

“[We] know how much they’ve contributed to the area for such a long time and obviously how tough [it was for] hospital and staff, particularly the last three years during the covid pandemic,” he said.

“It’s a bit of a circular thing, what you put in is what you get out.”

Werribee Hospital Foundation chief executive Leanne Down said the organisation was grateful for their partner ship with the club and “extremely thankful” for the generous donation, which was used to help purchase a Glideslope for the Paediatrics and Special Care Nursery at Werribee Mercy Hospital.

“This piece of equipment is a video laryngoscope that assists with intubating a young patient to assist breathing, in critical situations when they need help to breath,” Ms Down said.

“It provides a clear vision of the airway and enables with what might be routine or difficult intubation of a patient.

“Our mission at the foundation is to continue to support our growing community of Wyndham with the public health care services needed in our area. It is wonderful coming together with other likeminded organisations in our region to make a real impact for our community”.
