Lions all for fun, funds

It’s time to tee off for charity.

The annual Lions Club of Werribee’s Graham Fenton Charity Golf Day will be held on October 23, with money raised from the event to go towards the Werribee Mercy Hospital’s Critical Care Unit.

Lions’ club officer Lou Scholten said the club was hoping to raise $7000.

“It will be a real fun charity day,” he said. “We’ve been holding days like this for 25 years and always pick a great cause to raise money for.

“Our aim is to give back to the Wyndham community.”

Work is well under way to expand Werribee Mercy.

The critical care unit will serve the community of Wyndham by providing critical and life-saving care locally.

The charity gold day will help the Mercy appeal achieve its goal of raising $2 million.

To start off the day at the Werribee Park Golf Club, the club will provide a barbecue lunch from 11am followed by a shotgun start from 12.30pm and a dinner and presentations in the evening.
