Wyndham Council wants feedback on public loos.
The council’s Draft Public Toilet Policy, which provides a framework for toilet provision across the city, is now open for consultation.
Community feedback is invited on the direction of the policy and the location of proposed public toilets in open spaces.
According to council, the policy promotes a standard for design that is accessible to all. It recommends co-locating toilets within safe spaces such as sporting pavilions and key destinations where the community gather.
Wyndham City Mayor Susan McIntyre said the vision for the Draft Public Toilet Policy included placing toilets at key destinations.
“We want those who use our wonderful open spaces to have clean, safe, and accessible public toilets,” she said.
“We often receive enquiries from the community about whether we can install a public toilet in their preferred park or reserve.
“This policy outlines the decision making of where toilets should be located – this is most often at district level parks that attract substantial numbers of community members, it takes into consideration the cost of installation and continued maintenance over the years.
“I encourage the community to look through the Draft Public Toilet Policy and provide their feedback.”
