Wyndham council’s Green Living Series will return this year.

The annual series, which includes sustainable living workshops and events, aims to help residents learn how to live “a little greener”.

In 2021, the Green Living Series will include a mix of virtual and physical events.

Each month will have a different theme, with March to be ‘Keeping Wyndham Clean’, April and May ‘Energy Smart Homes’ and June ‘Environment’.

Mayor Cr Adele Hegedich said this month would kick off with a Clean Up Australia Day event at the weekend for locals to join at the Saltwater Coast.

“There are multiple ways you can keep Wyndham clean in March, including booking a hard rubbish collection at home or signing your business up to the Aspire program to help keep waste out of landfill,” Cr Hegedich said.

Wyndham’s climate futures and environment portfolio holder, Cr Robert Szatkowski, said the Green Living series was also a good way to make new friends while helping the environment.

“There are several local clean up groups across Wyndham that you could join and get to know those like-minded people around you,” Cr Szatkowski said.

“The groups such as Love Our Street, NatureWest, Beach Patrol and Werribee River Association generally run a clean-up session once a month and are always looking for more people to help them.”

The Clean Up Australia Day Saltwater Coast event will be held from 10am-1pm on Sunday at 153 Saltwater Promenade, Point Cook.
