Firefighters spent the evening battling a fire at a recycling facility in Laverton North.
Crews were called to the site on Dohertys Road at 10pm last night and arrived on scene to find a fire involving a pile of rubbish.
Firefighters worked with site employees to pull the piles of rubbish apart, allowing crews to extinguish the fire using ladder platform and teleboom aerial appliances.
The fire was declared under control within about 10 minutes.
Ambulance Victoria attended and assessed three people who had been exposed to smoke.
Crews are expected to remain on site throughout the morning to ensure the scene is safe.
