Waste collection delays across the municipality have been caused by ongoing driver availability shortages, Wyndham council have said.

Staff sickness, isolation requirements and general labour shortages have contributed to ongoing impacts to rubbish collection.

City operations director Stephen Thorpe said the council is committed to providing “equitable waste management services” to residents in the municipality.

“To maintain service, Cleanaway is now working outside of scheduled collection times. If your bin has not been collected at your normal time, please continue to leave it on your nature strip until it has been collected,” Mr Thorpe said.

“Waste collection delays due to COVID-19 staff shortages are being felt across many municipalities, and Wyndham City is actively working with Cleanaway to ensure bins are collected promptly.”

Mr Thorpe said they are grateful for the patience of residents and encourage anyone seeking further information to contact the council.
