Labor successful in Tarneit

Labor’s Dylan Wright is expected to win the electorate of Tarneit after procuring 47 per cent of first preference votes.

Mr Wright wright obtained 15,121 first preference votes, Liberal candidate Preet Singh received 8804 first preference votes (27.4 per cent), Greens candidate Clare Miller obtained 2181 first preference votes (6.79 per cent) and Victorian Socialists candidate Claudio Uribe received 1826 first preference votes (5.6 per cent), according to the Victorian Electoral Commission.

On a two party preferred basis, Mr Wright secured 62.33 per cent of the vote, a total of 20,026 while Mr Singh amassed 12,104 votes, or 37.6 per cent of the vote.

Mr Wright thanked voters on Facebook.

“Thank you Tarneit for this opportunity to represent you as your Labor MP,” he said.

“Thank you to everyone who volunteered, supported my campaign, and to my family.

“Now for the good part. Let’s continue to do what matters for Tarneit.”
