A partnership between Wyndham council and a kindergarten provider is providing families with new services.
The council has joined bestchance Child Family Care at Truganina East Kindergarten, which opened last month, to provide services previously not available in Wyndham.
Early childhood intervention, parent and community support, registered training programs and playgroups are all now available at the 143-place kindergarten.
There are plans to move the services into a purpose-built facility in the future. The Truganina East P-9 school, which is currently being built, will partner with the council and bestchance to create the new hub.
Council families spokesperson Mia Shaw said with Wyndham’s population growing so fast, emphasis needed to be placed on service provision.
“This new approach to delivering a kindergarten that will also provide other vital services for Wyndham families is a great way to find new solutions to ongoing problems,” Cr Shaw said.
Council’s education spokesperson Joshua Gilligan said the partnership represented “a new opportunity for Wyndham”.
The chief executive of bestchance, Kevin Feeney, also welcomed the new partnership.
He said the organisation was “excited to be entering into this partnership and delivering a range of services to Wyndham residents”.
There are 2925 children attending kindergarten programs at council-run facilities.
Enrolments for 2018 are currently being accepted, with first round offers closing on April 28.
