Kimberley Gibney has her eyes firmly set on the Air Force.

The Point Cook resident was recently given the chance to taste her dream as a member of the Air Force, experiencing a week at its Technical Camp for Young Women, held at RAAF Base Amberley.

The camp is open to women aged between 16 and 24 years. It gives them an insight into what a future career in the Air Force would be like.

“I wanted to come to the camp to see new RAAF bases and to learn more about the different roles and career options that I could have in the Air Force,” she said.

“I hope to have a career that allows me to have as many experiences as possible, that is challenging and rewarding, and I believe that being an officer in the Air Force will allow me to do this,” Kimberley said.

At the camp, Kimberley experienced a range of activities including technical trade roles, physical training, leadership challenges, observing the military working dogs and a demonstration of the RAAF firefighters.

Flight Lieutenant Margaret Traill from Air Force Gender Programs said that the camp is a good way for young women to see all the career possibilities that the Australian Defence Force has to offer.
