The pupils at Truganina South Primary school channeled their inner scientist for this year’s national science week.

The theme for 2022 is glass: more than meets the eye, and celebrates the many ways glass is present and used in our day to day lives.

Primary school science teacher Ebonie Keys said the pupils loved being involved in the dedicated activities and the buzz from their excitement was infectious.

“We had a day examining different samples through microscopes, made mosaic mirrors and decorated handheld mirrors with glass tiles and gems,” she said.

“It helps students understand that science is everywhere, everyday. It’s creative, it’s thought provoking , it’s fun and it’s for everyone.”

National science week is Australia’s celebration of science and technology, in-person and online events to commemorate science week were held from August 13-21.

It is hoped participating in the week will inspire a deeper interest in science among kids and encourage them to be curious about the world around us.
