K Road upgrades continue

Upgrades to K Road in Werribee South will start in late May or early June, and Wyndham council is urging drivers to be patient as delays are expected during the works.

The upgrades will include an improved intersection at Main Drive, a new shared user path for pedestrians and cyclists and enhanced connections to existing bus stops.

Mayor Mia Shaw said the road has been prioritised in order to better facilitate tourism in the area.

“The upgraded intersection at Main Drive will improve access to and from major attractions such as the Werribee Open Range Zoo, Werribee Mansion, the National Equestrian Centre, and the Victoria State Rose Garden,” Cr Shaw said.

“Is a significant investment in the future of Werribee South, aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility for all road users.”

For major events, the contractor in charge of the upgrades will provide full two-way access to the Werribee Park precinct to accommodate the additional traffic and will make suitable changes to avoid traffic congestion.

“No-one likes sitting in traffic, so please allow extra time when travelling to and from Werribee South as we deliver these essential works,” Cr Shaw said.

The K Road reconstruction is the second stage in the K Road Cliffs and Road Reconstruction project, with work on the first stage nearing completion.
