It’s spooky and it’s kooky

Manor Lakes residents Andrew Price and Maria Lodola-Price are again gearing up for a spook-tacular Halloween.

Every year, the husband and wife decorate their house for Halloween and invite neighbours to attend a special viewing event to raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

However, Ms Lodola-Price said the pandemic means their fundraising efforts have taken a different direction this year.

They will be hosting an online house decorating contest, Amazing Race competition, family costume contest, pet costume contest and colouring competition, with entries to be submitted digitally.

The Manor Lakes Estate will donate $50 for every entry received into some of the costume and decorating categories.

A local quilter has also donated a quilt, which will be the prize of a digital Halloween raffle.

Ms Lodola-Price said she and her husband were hoping to raise at least $1000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation this year.

Ms Lodola-Price said she would like to thank all the traders and people who have donated prizes for their event.

“Lots of local businesses have donated prizes, I think it’s amazing, even though many have probably been negatively-impacted at this time,” she said.

“I’ve been really pleasantly surprised by generous people have been.”

Ms Lodola-Price said she and Mr Price would be decorating their own house for Halloween this year, but not to the extent they usually do, as pandemic restrictions mean they have not been able to collect a lot of their decorative items from storage.
