It all adds up for Dulain

When it comes to times tables, totals and triangles, 10-year-old Dulain is a talented pupil.

Dulain, who is in grade 4 at St James the Apostle Catholic Primary School in Hoppers Crossing, recently took part in the Australian Maths Trust Competition.

He received a score of 28 out of 30 in the competition, which put him in the top 0.3 per cent of results for students from Australia and New Zealand.

St James the Apostle mathematics leader John Hein said the school was “very proud” of Dulain.

Mr Hein said that 63 pupils from the school, in grades 3 to 6, entered the maths competition.

“Overall the school achieved one prize and nine distinctions, 13 credits, 30 proficiency and 15 participation [awards],” he said.
