Coaches are replacing V/Line services along part of the Geelong and Warrnambool lines, due to a police incident in the Little River area.
Trains are not operating between Waurn Ponds and Wyndham Vale.
Public Transport Victoria has asked passengers to check station platform displays and listen for announcements, and to allow additional time for their journeys.
Motorists should be vigilant for extra buses and pedestrians around stations on the Geelong line.
“This closure is under Victoria Police control and services will only resume when investigations are complete and it’s safe to do so,” an alert issued by authorities said.
“Our signals team is monitoring conditions and will adjust traffic lights as needed to assist with bus movements.”
