In the run for fun and charity

Werribee’s Steve Wade has been running for fun – and a good cause – for a long time.

And he’s not about to stop any time soon.

Mr Wade is a long-time participant in the Manor Lakes Wyndham Rotary Fun Run/Walk.

He has taken part in the fun run for the past eight years, and said his first experience was with a group of friends from “the Rec Centre” in Werribee (now Eagle Stadium).

Mr Wade’s business, Wade Builders, has also sponsored the event for about eight years.

This year’s fun run will be held on Sunday, March 17, with most of the money raised to go towards Werribee Mercy Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Entrants will be able to run five or 10 kilometres, or walk four or eight kilometres, along the Werribee River.

Mr Wade, a former Rotary member, said he usually tackled the 10-kilometre run.

He praised the efforts of Rotary members and volunteers in organising the event.

“The main thing is to make sure the Rotary club gets recognised – and the volunteers who are standing in the sun as we run past and pull down the banners after we go home,” he said.

See wyndhamfunrun.org to register for the fun run.
