A mini-skatepark at Hoppers Crossing offers a brand new hang-out for young people.

The Wyndham Youth Resource Centre outdoor area redevelopment project, at Derrimut Road, is open to all community members – no matter how many wheels they’re rolling on.

Wyndham sports development portfolio holder Peter Maynard last week said he was pleased to open the facility as it would give young people a social space that encouraged physical activity.

“This mini-skate park includes modern features – such as a high ledge, a hubba ledge, a mogul, a quarter pipe and a flat bank with a kerb – that will impress our young skaters,” he said.

Cr Maynard said the mini-skate park area had been built over a half basketball court with a single hoop that been relocated next to
the skate park, along with reinstated soccer goals.

“I support the development of facilities that encourage people – especially our youth – to get active and improve their sporting skills,”
he said.
