Wyndham council is calling on residents to help shape the future of a new sporting reserve being planned for Manor Lakes.
Wyndham’s sports development portfolio holder, Cr Peter Maynard, said the Manor Lakes North Active Open Space draft design concept was now open for public feedback.
“We know that in order to build healthy communities, we need to build the relevant infrastructure to support exercise, so council plans to transform an eight-hectare parcel of land next to the site of the future P-6 school on Holyoake Parade to a sporting hub,” Cr Maynard said.
“We have provision to develop a sporting reserve with a pavilion, a sports oval, cricket nets, tennis courts, shared pathways, a playground, a barbecue area, public toilets and a car park, just to name a few of the possible features we can create during this development.”
Cr Maynard said Wyndham residents have demonstrated a desire to stay fit and healthy through community sport and leisure facilities, walking, cycling and recreational activities.
“To fulfil this need and encourage residents to exercise, council has a plan to ensure sport and recreation facilities are accessible to all residents,” he said.
“That’s why council is keen to gather community input on our Manor Lakes North Active Open Space draft concept design, which incorporates all of this.”
