The worst-kept secret in retail has finally been confirmed: Swedish fashion label H&M is coming to Pacific Werribee.
Rumours have been circulating for months that the retailer would be calling Pacific Werribee home, but it wasn’t confirmed until last week when Pacific Shopping Centres unveiled a list of new brands that will open at the centre in July as part of a redevelopment.
It will be Victoria’s third H&M store.
H&M will join Japan-based retailer Uniqlo, Kikki.K, Swarovski, Mecca Maxima, Seed, Heritage, Sportsgirl, Peter Alexander, Decjuba, Country Road, French Connection, Veronika Maine, Sportscraft and Bardot, as well as a two-level Myer that will be more than three times the size of the existing department store.
Stage three of Pacific Werribee’s $400 million redevelopment will open to the public on July 28.
Pacific Shopping Centres’ chief executive Graham Terry said he was thrilled with the new retailers that would soon call Pacific Werribee home.
“Welcoming these prominent brands to Pacific Werribee’s stable of leading retailers is a really proud moment for us,” Mr Terry said.
“We embarked on the centre’s development with the vision of evolving it into a one-stop fashion, food and entertainment destination, and it’s the introduction of these global and local brands that will create a well-rounded offering comparable to metropolitan Melbourne.”
Pacific Werribee reported a 15 per cent growth in sales, bringing in $435 million over the 2015 calendar year.
On average, more than 200,000 people are shopping at Pacific Werribee each week.
