Police have charged a 43-year-old Hoppers Crossing man after firearms, ammunition, parts and plans were uncovered during a search warrant in Hoppers Crossing on Thursday, December 12.
Police said detectives raided a residence in O’Neill Avenue as part of an investigation into the manufacturing of illicit firearms.
Police seized two imitation firearms, an inoperable home-made firearm, a quantity of ammunition, various homemade firearm parts as well as schematics and plans for privately made firearms.
According to police, the man was arrested at the scene and has subsequently been charged with several offences including manufacturing firearms without a licence and possessing parts to manufacture firearms
Police said he was bailed to face Werribee Magistrates’ Court on April 29.
