Hoppers Crossing man charged after alleged firearms incident

Police have charged a 24-year-old man after an alleged firearms incident in Hoppers Crossing on Monday, September 12.

Police allege a number of people were involved in an altercation on Bellbridge Drive about 11.30am.

One person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and a local primary school was placed into lockdown as a precaution for a short time.

Police arrested the Hoppers Crossing man and executed a warrant at an address on Bellbridge Drive, seizing a handgun, a sawn-off rifle, a conducted energy device, imitation firearm and other weapons.

The man was charged with affray, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, possessing a traffickable quantity of firearms and bail offences and remanded to appear in court later today.
