Hoppers Crossing Country Fire Authority have welcomed the addition of a support vehicle, offering a safety boost for firefighters while out on the job.

“We are excited to announce that our Breathing Apparatus (BA) Support vehicle is nearly online and undergoing finishing touches,” First Lieutenant Peter Habersatt said.

Mr Habersatt said the vehicle would provide support at fires, as well as other emergencies and could be used by neighbouring CFA’s as well.

“This specialized vehicle will allow our volunteer firefighters to provide additional BA Cylinders which give firefighters a supply of clean air, protecting firefighters from the dangerous smoke, heat and toxic gases that can be present in a fire, ensuring that they have the operational capacity to safely and effectively protect our community,” he said.

The vehicle was purchased using grants from the state government and donations from community members during the 2019-2020 bushfires.

“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this possible,” Mr Habersatt said.

“Your support is greatly appreciated. We would also like to thank our Operations Team for their hard work in bringing this new addition to our fleet.”

Mr Habersatt said the crew was always looking for dedicated and passionate individuals to join the team.

“If you are interested in volunteering with the Hoppers Crossing Fire Brigade, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us,” he said.
