Two Wyndham residents were among 26 charged with hoon and traffic offences last week in a police crackdown on high- risk driving.
A 19-year-old Hoppers Crossing man and 21-year-old Williams Landing man were among those charged following police raids across Melbourne as part of Taskforce Regarder.
The taskforce, which was formed in November in response to the increasing number of hoon gatherings across Melbourne, resulted in police executing 27 warrants in 72 hours last week and seizing 18 cars.
Inspector Bryan Sharp said charges including conduct endangering serious injury, conduct endangering life and other hoon and traffic-related offences.
The 26 people charged have been bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates Court on May 11.
Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill said many hoon meetings were organised through social media.
“These irresponsible people, including the event organisers and driver, place their lives and the lives of others at risk,” he said.
The raids were carried out a week after Hoppers Crossing teenagers Ivana Clonaridis, 18, and Harley Churchill, 19, died when the blue Holden ute they were in plunged into a ravine at the EJ Whitten bridge and burst into flames.
Delahey resident Adem Arpaci, 21, was last week charged with one count of culpable driving and one count of dangerous driving causing death.
