A heritage-listed Werribee property has gone under the hammer.
One of the popular Carter Cottages along College Road has changed owners after selling at auction earlier this month for $500,000.
Nicole Occhibove from Ray White real estate said the property made up one of the four Carter Cottages owned by the Carter family, one of the first families to make Werribee home. She said the property was used as a bed and breakfast until 2015 when the properties were sold off individually.
“All those cottages in that pocket there – including Mary Avenue and Carter Avenue – they are heritage listed, because they’re the first settlers’ homes,” Ms Occhibove said.
“All those homes there were built by the Carter family for their employees to live in, who worked at the farm.”
The property formed part of the Carter housing estate, a series of about 66 brick veneer properties built between 1941 and 1954 along College Road, Mary Avenue, Carter Crescent and Anderson Street in Werribee.
Four of the properties later formed the popular Carter Cottages bed and breakfast.
Ms Occhibove said the College Road property was sold to a young couple.
“Being so close to the Werribee train station and Werribee CBD, homes in those areas get a lot of traction,” she said.
