High hopes for hi-tops

Truganina resident Henry ‘Skillz’ Mukhwana is putting his best foot forward to help raise funds for the MFB and CFA.

Mr Mukhwana, along with his business partner Fernando Pizzaro, is the founder of Melbourne-based fashion label Spacely Clothing.

Mr Mukhwana said that after the devastating bushfires across Australia during Christmas and the beginning of the year, Spacely Clothing decided to create a pair of custom-designed hi-tops, to raise funds for firefighters.

“The idea for Spacely’s Australian Bushfire Tribute hi-tops came from a desire to give back to our generous community; especially the fireys who consistently and uncomplainingly leave their own families to put their lives on the line and keep the wider community of Australia safe,” Mr Mukhwana said.

“Spacely will be producing the Australian Bushfire Tribute sneakers on demand, through our website orders.

“They are available in hi-top and low-cut lace-ups for adults, as well as a velcro children’s option.

“All proceeds from sales of Spacely’s Australian Bushfire Tribute sneakers will go directly to CFA and MFA, to give back to the paid and volunteer firefighters who have put their lives on the line daily for us all for months.”

Mr Mukhwana said that for him, opening the box to see the first pair of Australian Bushfire Tribute sneakers had been a great experience.

“It hit me at that moment that I had made this dream I’d had in my head, this concept, real,” he said.

“As a creative, not much else comes close to that high.”
