Werribee mother of two Rebecca Perkins knows only too well what it’s like to live with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

She not only has ADHD but her eldest son, Lachlan, also lives with the disorder and is intellectually disabled.

“After Lachlan was diagnosed, I became more and more frustrated with the lack of information and support out there for parents of children with additional needs,” Ms Perkins said.

Ms Perkins will be the keynote speaker for the ADHD Conference, run by My Special Child, at Hoppers Crossing next month.

The conference aims to provide accessible support and information for families like hers.

“This conference is the first of its kind in Australia and … it is suitable for anyone with an interest in ADHD,” she said.

Guest speakers, including Dr Jacques Duff of the Behavioural Neurotherapy Clinic, Christina Keeble, mother of a neurodivergent child, and Kerry Phelan who has three children with ADHD, will help with different strategies, information and topics surrounding the disorder.

The inaugural ADHD Conference will be held on Saturday, July 6 at Encore Events Centre, Hoppers Crossing between 10am and 4pm.
