Women’s health will be the focus of a $33 million specialist medical centre being built in Werribee.

Techne Developments, which opened the Wyndham Clinic Private Hospital and Wyndham Private Medical Centre, is developing the Wyndham Medical and Services Centre along Hoppers Lane, next door to St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee.

The medical centre, which is under construction and is expected to open about May 2018, will include a general practice medical clinic, women’s specialist GP practice, and all elements of women’s health, including maternity, obstetrics and gynaecology.

Part of the building has also been leased out to the state government and will house offices for government employees.

Construction of a $9.2 million child care centre behind the new medical centre is also expected to begin in coming months. The centre will offer 150 places and is also expected to open about May 2018.

Techne Development managing director Scott Vickers-Willis said the projects would cement Hoppers Lane as the west’s leading healthcare precinct.

“There’s no doubt the western suburbs of Melbourne are booming in population growth and in particular in Wyndham, which has regularly recorded one of the fastest growth rates in Australia,” he said.

“These striking new developments will certainly be a significant addition to the already burgeoning health and learning precinct in Hoppers Lane.”
