Baden Powell College students are calling on their community to help bring some comfort to the homeless. The aim is to collect a trailer load of bedding to be distributed by the Uniting homelessness service.
Year 7 to 9 students started collecting doonas, blankets and sleeping bags last week as part of the school’s Interact – Help us help the homeless project.
Year 7 students, Aaron and Libaan, are helping spread the word about the project.
“We’re collecting doonas, and warm sleeping bags to raise awareness about the homelessness in our neighbourhoods,” Aaron told
Star Weekly.
“It’s really cold right now and the homeless people could use some warmth … we really want to give them some hope.”
The drive for winter warmers will be open until September 18 at the school’s Tarneit campus.
