All things horsey will be the focus of a festival at Werribee South this month.
Lovers of Clydesdales will flock to the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre for the 10th annual Heavy Horse Festival.
The January 21-22 festival is the premier event on the Clydesdale competition calendar.
Event organiser Robert Ronzio says the horses and their owners will be putting “a huge effort in presenting themselves in front of the discerning eyes of distinguished judges”.
Other ‘heavy’ breeds to be represented will include Friesians, Shires and Fjord ponies.
“There’s not much more that stirs the imagination and excitement than a gathering of the gentle giant horses known as the Clydesdale,” Mr Ronzio said.
Other attractions at the festival will include led stud horses; a harness, tradesman and delivery harness turnout; show driving; ridden heavy horses; heavy horse dressage; fancy dress; and a ‘log snig and obstacle’ course.
There will also be a display of heavy horse-drawn vehicles and farm implements.
The event kicks off at 9am on January 21.
