Have say on Manor Lakes dog park

Wyndham council is seeking feedback for the latest off-leash dog park that is planned for Wyndham.

Hindmarsh Drive Reserve in Manor Lakes has been pegged as a potential location, and residents who live nearby and may potentially use it are being urged to have their say.

The proposed development would include fenced lawn areas with double games to maximise safety for pets.

Also part of the initial scheme is a drinking fountain, agility equipment, doggie bag dispensers and new trees with landscaping and seating.

Mayor Mia Shaw said the proposed inclusions for the park aim to keep dogs safe, active and socialised.

“We know that this neighbourhood is the one with the highest number of registered dogs per household, without a designated dog off-leash area,” Cr Shaw said.

“Dog parks provide a space for residents to safely let their dogs out, encouraging socialisation and connection – dogs are an important part of a healthy and socially connected community.”

Residents are invited to discuss the project between 10am-1pm on Saturday, August 9, at Hindmarsh Drive Reserve, Manor Lakes.

The designs stem from an off-leash dog park strategy council implemented in 2022 and part of a greater strategy that wants to increase the amount of open spaces in Wyndham in the 20 years.

The project is also supported by the state government through the New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program.
