Haute couture trackside at Werribee Cup

Fashion sense is alive and well in Wyndham. That’s the verdict of Fashions on the Field organiser Heather Marcus, who was impressed with the style on show at Sunday’s Werribee Cup.

“We’re very impressed with how it all turned out,” she said.

“The women looked gorgeous and it was great to see so many men having a go in the competition.”

Jenny Beard, wearing a homemade cream- coloured dress and a black and white hat from Jill and Jack, was crowned winner of the women’s category.

“I had this vintage fabric sitting around the house for ages so thought I’d give it a go and try making something out of it,” she said. “It’s very special to have won when I’m up against so many gorgeous women.”

It was a family affair for men’s and children’s categories, with Stephen Perryman being named winner for the men, and his four-year-old son Zac winning ‘best-dressed child’.

“It’s a very proud moment for me, coming first with my son,” Mr Perryman said. “We weren’t expecting for us both to win.”

Allie Guy was runner-up for the women, while Matthew Quick also filled second place.
