A melting pot of culture was celebrated at Tarneit P-9 College recently when the school hosted its own Harmony Day celebrations. Year 9 students Palwasha Ahmed and Laiba Noaman, pictured, were among those who donned cultural garb for the day, while others wore the colour orange – which signifies social communication and meaningful conversations – on the day. Younger and older students got together to make a Harmony tree and at lunchtime some of the students performed traditional Bollywood, African and Islander dances. Harmony Day is observed annually on March 21 as a celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity.
