Groups unite to clean-up Wyndham

Hardworking volunteers collected around 350 kilograms of rubbish from various sites in Wyndham last week during a Clean Up Australia Day event.
NatureWest – a not-for-profit association for individuals, groups and organisations that share an environmental vision for the wider Werribee catchment – hosted the clean-up, with support from Wyndham council.
NatureWest chair Bruce Boddington said 115 volunteers from different multicultural groups registered to pick up rubbish on the day.
“Areas cleaned up were a length of Lollypop Creek, several constructed wetlands around Manor Lakes, the Wyndham Vale train station surrounds and several streets adjoining the Manor Lakes P-12 College,” he said.
Mr Boddington said among the waste collected was car parts, food and drink containers and builders’ rubbish.
“Volunteers came from several community groups from around Wyndham, as well as residents of Manor Lakes and Wyndham Vale,” he said.
Community groups who helped out on the day included Club 60 Wyndham Vale, Wyndham Happy Life and Scouts.
Clean Up Australia Day is held on the first Sunday in March every year.
Over the past 30 years, more than 7.7 million Australians have donated their time to Clean Up Australia Day activities.
