Sustainability guru shares inspiration

By Esther Lauaki

Wyndham businesses are to get sustainability inspiration from one of Australia’s best.

Sustainability advocate Jon Dee will share his knowledge and experiences at a free luncheon at Encore Events Centre next month.

Wyndham environment and sustainability portfolio holder Heather Marcus said it would be an opportunity to hear from one of the “greatest minds in sustainability”.

“Jon has a strong track record in the sustainability space, having co-founded Planet Ark with his good friend, Pat Cash, back in 1991,” Cr Marcus said.

Mr Dee also founded DoSomething in 2007 with actress Tina Jackson.

That initiative helped volunteers around the world to give back to their communities.

“In 2013, Jon joined Olivia Newton-John to co-found the One Tree Per Child initiative, which aims to have every child planting one tree as part of a primary school activity,” Cr Marcus said.

“This is a unique opportunity for our businesses to hear first-hand how they can go green and make their business more sustainable.”

The sustainable business luncheon will be held on Thursday, May 2, from noon-2pm at Encore Events Centre in Hoppers Crossing.
