It’s been twelve years since Karen Galloway joined the Chirnside Wine Club in Werribee, a group which she says has really broadened her horizons.

Every month, the club meets for a blind tasting, sitting around a table together, sipping wine and enjoying cheese and biscuits.

“You’re just going by your senses, you look at the colour, you sniff the wine, then taste it,” she said.

“And there’s no right our wrong answer.

Ms Galloway said the “friendly bunch” enjoying taking annual trips to wine regions together, travelling to Beechworth last year, and planning a visit to South Australia in the near future.

“It’s fun, because people end up knowing each other quite well,” she said.

“We do day trips where we go somewhere and have lunch and wine, we have an annual dinner and we have cellar nights.”

The group is for perfect for people who are “serious about wine” and interested residents are encouraged to reach out.
