A Werribee great-grandmother is devastated after the theft of all her garden ornaments.
The 85-year-old woman, who asked not to be named, said 10 animal statuettes were stolen from the front garden of her Duncans Road unit overnight on June 11 or 12.
The woman said the animal ornaments, mostly dogs and elephants, were all around a foot high and made of concrete or resin.
She said she was “very sad” that the garden figurines were taken because they held sentimental value for her.
“Some my grandchildren and great-grandchildren bought for me, and my late husband got me one of the elephants,” she said.
“I’m very upset – I’m still shaking, actually.
“Just the fact that someone unknown was walking around on my property is terrible.”
The woman said some of the stolen ornaments had plants in them, while another was a dog with the word “Welcome” written on it.
She said she was hoping residents would keep an eye out for any garden ornaments matching the description of her stolen statues.
“It would be lovely if I could get some of them back,” she said.
The woman said she had reported the theft to police, but understood “there wasn’t much they could do”. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
