The Victorian government have redeveloped their bike safety education program to reach more kids across the state, including in Wyndham.
The program, Bike Ed, supports kids to develop the skills they need to ride safely and independently on roads and paths.
It will now reach students from grade one to grade eight, expanding on the previous program which was only available to those in grade five and six.
The program is delivered by staff, members of the school community or external cycling education organisations who have undertaken accredited training to deliver the program.
The announcement was made on March 25 and is part of the governments commitment to increasing the number of people using active modes of transport such as cycling or walking.
Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll said Ride2School Day was an excellent way for families to consider a safe but active way to travel.
“The Bike Ed program uses practical, on the bike lessons to ensure young riders have the skills to ride safely and older students have the ability and confidence to ride independently.”
