The expansion of a Tarneit school is making progress, with two new buildings opened last week.
Good News Lutheran College’s middle and senior school science centre, and a new materials and technology centre, are now complete.
Principal Simon Hughes said the opening of the two buildings was an important stage of the school’s overall expansion.
The college, on Tarneit Road, planned its new buildings – specialist buildings and classrooms – to accommodate a student body more than twice the size of that currently enrolled.
“Both [buildings] are critical specialist areas for our students in middle and senior classes,” Mr Hughes said. “Now we’ve got state-of-the-art science laboratories, woodwork and metalwork facilities, along with amenities for robotic and design capabilities.”
Part of the expansion was funded through a federal government grant.
Victorian senator Scott Ryan joined other dignitaries for the opening last Thursday.
The overall two-storey development is expected to be completed next year.
