Parents in Wyndham will soon have more choice for their child’s education, with Good News Lutheran College to open a new school near Wyndham Vale in 2025.
The co-ed christian school will build its new campus on a 6.8 hectare site recently purchased from Fraser’s Property as part of its Mambourin Town Centre development.
It will be the second campus for Good News Lutheran College to go with its prep to year 12 school in Tarneit, which opened in 1997 and now boasts over 1000 students.
Principal Fiona McAuliffe said the new campus will meet the growing demand for religious education in Wyndham.
“The Mambourin campus will enable more students from Melbourne’s fast-growing west to experience a Good News education, grounded in faith, purpose and our values of grace, integrity, courage and respect,” she said.
Three junior classes have already begun at Tarneit in preparation for Mambourin’s opening in 2025.
Despite the different location, McAuliffe says the beginnings of the new school can already be seen.
“We have watched these Mambourin families form great connections at what will be their school all the way to year 12.”
The Mambourin campus will initially only go from prep to Year 6, but hopes to gradually add classes with the goal of eventually emulating Tarneit and catering for all year levels.
The new school will feature purpose-built classrooms, sports fields, play areas and specialist facilities.
A community arts centre, library, shopping precinct and train station are among the amenities planned for nearby, with Mambourin Town Centre expected to have 4000 residents when completed in 2026.
Construction on the new school will begin later this year.
