Nine million dollars in funding for two Tarneit schools will be fast-tracked.
Tarneit MP Sarah Connolly last week said Good News Lutheran College will receive $5 million to go towards the construction of a two-storey junior primary school building for pupils in grades 1, 2, 3 and 4.
The building will incorporate instruction and collaborative learning areas, including wet project areas, meeting and seminar spaces, staff planning, kitchen, multi-purpose space and student and staff amenities.
“This project will help Good News Lutheran College and give local students and staff the best possible facilities,” Ms Connolly said.
In addition, a new Catholic primary school which is being built in Tarneit North will receive $4 million in funding. The school is expected to open in 2023.
Ms Connolly said that 56 educational projects across the state have received fast-tracked funding from the state government’s Non-Government Schools Capital Fund, to give students and staff access to the best facilities possible.
Ms Connolly said the projects had also been fast-tracked to help stimulate the economy and create employment.
The 56 projects will create close to 800 jobs during construction.
The schools which have received funds from the Non-Government Schools Capital Fund will be able to start construction of the projects within the next six months.
“This investment is vital to Victoria’s economic recovery and creating jobs in the Education State,” Ms Connolly said.
