If you’ve ever wanted to give an ace sport a go, pickleball could be the activity for you.
Recently launched at Eagle Stadium, pickleball is a sport combining elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis and is played using paddle and whiffle ball.
Eagle Stadium program coordinator Paul Lacchiana said the centre prides itself on providing a variety of sports for Wyndham’s diverse community, and pickleball is an inclusive and fun sport.
“Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide and Eagle Stadium is excited to pioneer the sport in Melbourne’s western suburbs,” Mr Lacchiana said.
“Pickleball is a low impact sport and is easy to learn for beginners of all ages.”
“Whether you are looking for some friendly competition, want to learn a new sport or to make new friends, it is fun for all.”
Mr Lacchiana said pickleball is a “game for anyone, and a community for everyone”.
“[It creates] a social group to engage community members and bring people together for this new and exciting sport at Eagle Stadium,” he said.
“Pickleball can be both social and competitive, with laughter and fun on and off the court.
“The social aspect of the sport is the most exciting element.”
Weekly sessions run every Thursday from 10am-noon.
“The cost is $7.60 per session, all the equipment is provided, and we have a dedicated Pickleball coach who will run each session and help you learn while you play,” Mr Lacchiana said.
