Gingerbread houses get Wyndham into Christmas spirit

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Wyndham.

Year 7 students at Hoppers Crossing Secondary College, Manor Lakes College and Wyndham Central College have spent the past couple of weeks getting into the Christmas spirit by designing and decorating their very own gingerbread houses.

Hoppers Crossing Secondary College teacher Olivia Cruse said the students had been working both in pairs and on their own to decorate 10 of the gingerbread houses.

“They designed the houses on paper first, and then they’ve come in during recess, lunchtime and after school to build and decorate them,” Ms Cruse said.

“They love it, they’re highly excited and they’re asking questions, wanting to do more. They’ve really had a great time.”

Locals will have the chance to view the creations themselves and vote for their favourite at Pacific Werribee this weekend as part of the centre’s Christmas Community Fair.

Young ones will also have the chance to make their own festive-themed gingerbread men during the two-day festival, which will include performances by community groups and schools, Urban Diner tasting carts, nail art by the I Scream Nails crew, photos with Santa, and an indoor pop-up park and champagne bar for the adults.
