Gifted an opportunity

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Melton – and with Christmas comes opportunities to contribute.

Melton Country Club is collecting Christmas donations for families who could do with some help at this time of the year.

The club’s function and marketing co-ordinator, Naomi Tobiasson, is encouraging the community to join club members and staff in supporting the big-hearted Chrtistmas gift drive.

“We started this last year and hope to do it annually,” she said. “These gifts are collected and distributed for the children of Melton without a gift this Christmas.”

Melton Country Club works with Melton council to distribute the donated gifts. Earlier in the year, families in need put their names on a list provided by the council’s family services to be able to receive gifts donated by the community.

The presents are tagged by the club with a brief description and are given to the council. Council staff filter the gifts to match them with recipients and then distribute the presents to families.

Popular donations this year have included hand-made wooden train sets and teddy
bears.

Donations are being taken until Monday, December 17, at Melton Country Club, 28-30 Reserve Road, Melton. Phone: 9743 1843
