Spending the holidays in hospital can be dreary and bleak for children, but by donating a gift to the Wyndham Health Foundation’s Toy Drive, residents can help brighten a kid’s Christmas day.
Chief executive Leanne Down said the foundation aims to collect as many presents as possible to hand out to the children staying on the wards and emergency department throughout the festive season to “allow them to forget about why they are in hospital, if only for a few moments.”
“Over the years, we have seen the joy it brings to the children to be able to still enjoy some cheers, as well as their family members,” she said.
“Let’s face it, no one wants to be in hospital, it is heart-warming to see the community come together and spread some cheer.”
Residents can drop off new and unwrapped gifts suitable for newborns through to 16-year-olds to the WHF Office before December 13, from Monday-Thursday, 9am-2pm.
“As we begin to reflect on the year that was, full of ups and down and another challenging year for many,” Ms Down said.
“The Foundation wants Christmas to be extra special for the children waking up on Christmas morning in paediatrics, special care nursery, emergency department and mother and baby unit.”
“Together, we can help bring joy to children in our community at Christmas.”
