Talk about a new direction for the west

The state government is calling on residents in the west to put in their two cents about what their area needs.

The government has established a western metropolitan partnership group that includes eight business and community representatives, the chief executive of each council in the region and a senior state government representative, which will host an assembly today (October 4) to give locals the chance to talk directly to decision makers about the future needs of the western metropolitan region.

The partnership group will pass on feedback from the assemblies, which will be used to guide the government on actions relating to jobs, services and infrastructure.

Similar partnerships have been set up in the east, inner south east, inner metro, south and north of Melbourne. Acting Minister for Suburban Development Lisa Neville said:
“Our suburbs are growing and it’s vital that community groups and all levels of government are involved in keeping our city livable and sustainable.”
